Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for development and maintenance of RF (radio frequency) engine and RF transceiver chip level plan with focus on the receive signal chain. The system and block specification with respect to optimized key performance indicators is a key result of daily work. This job significantly influenced the RF receiver architecture/topology and the line-up for receiver path from antenna until digital baseband processor covering all kind of front-end components on RF engine and RF and baseband blocks inside the Chip. In addition the candidate is responsible for refinement and specification of detailed concepts for RF transceiver and cellular modem algorithms and subsequent total performance characterization and validation of their finite precision implementation using mainly Matlab based simulation platform.

What you’ll do:

• Level considerations from RF antenna via RF front end trough analogue and digital signal processing inside the RF transceiver including the digital interface towards baseband processor.
• Extracting and writing block specifications derived from the engine and chip level plan.
• Securing the block specifications by simulation of all relevant RF system use cases.
• Development and continuously improve the level plan simulation environment.
• The block specifications have to be negotiated and refined in close collaboration with the analogue circuit designer as well as digital concept and design engineers.
• Refinement of system specification together with customers and front end vendors.
• Extract and define signal level strategies to be implemented in hardware/software algorithms.

Must Have:

• RF engineering from antenna to cellular modem base band processing for various state of the art cellular modem technologies/radio access technologies.
• Excellent RF system knowledge and understanding of RF KPIs and their system impact.
• Deep understanding of general Circuit analysis, noise calculation and linearity limitations
• Analysis of line-up for analogue and digital circuitry in cellular receivers, specification of noise and linearity requirements, subsequent definition of block specification.
• Familiarity with 3GPP/3GPP2 wireless standards and radio access network design, fundamental understanding of GSM, WCDMA, LTE standards.
• Experience with receiver concepts and design for modern cellular radio access technologies GSM/WCDMA/LTE/TD-SCDMA/CDMA200 CDMA/OFDMA based systems
• Knowledge in operating of RF LAB equipment (spectrum/network analyzer, sampling scopes etc)
• Excellent Matlab and MS-Office-Excel knowledge is mandatory
• Strong academic background with emphasis on wireless communication theory, digital signal processing and Information Theory is required.
• Prior experience of working with multi-sited teams in multiple disciplines is a plus.
• Excellent written, verbal communications in English and soft/social skills to work in global cross functional teams.
• Education background: Master's/Doctorate, Electrical Engineering and/or Electronics & RF Engineering.

Nice to Have:

• German language knowledge skills are an advantage.
• C/C++ programming knowledge is beneficial
